DECEMBER

December 1 - Enfield District School classes are each trying to collect 100 items. The photo below of a some of the 'collector kids' with part of the 'collection'.  They are doing an amazing job!

December 1 - Protx Physiotherapy Clinic, Elmsdale

A great collection of food, cash & gift cards from their clientele was 'matched' by the Clinic, resulting in a wonderful combined 'December Gift' to Caring & Sharing!

Many may have noticed their road sign while driving by in recent days, and Protx staff did a great job of looking after the donations.

We salute them for a truly generous campaign idea at this truly important time of year for Food Bank.  A grand total of 40 bags of groceries, and nearly $600 was collected; the good folks at Protx then matched it for us!

December 1 to 18th - SUBSCRIPTION DRIVE FOOD-RAISER - The Enfield Weekly Press offered $10.00 off a yearly subscription with a Food Bank donation - to be shared between Caring & Sharing & Shumiliacke Food Banks.  Caring & Sharing is grateful for the efforts from the paper, long-time supporter.

Saturday December 5 - 9:00am to 1:00pm - Elmsdale Sobeys Pajamarama - Local Grade 9 student Rebbecca Feindel-Sherry was back again with her now annual collection of cozy pjs for local kids in need; this year all pairs donated will again be given directly to Caring & Sharing Angel Tree.  She and her family then rushed from Sobeys to set up a float in the annual Santa Claus parade and collected even more over the route from Elmsdale to Enfield!

December 4, 5, 6 - RSI Danceworks again performed NUTCRACKER DREAMS on December 4, 5, & 6 at Hants East Regional High School.  A portion of ticket sales was donated to CSAT and HERH Theatre Fund; this year Food Bank received over $480 which will go a long way towards making someone's else's dreams come true this Holiday Season.  'Good Show & thanks for your continuing support!'

2015 Corridor Santa Claus Parade

- Saturday December 5

This important annual event provides a significant influx of food & toys for needy families.  This could not happen without the many volunteers from local businesses & families who work so tirelessly before, during and after the parade - we're extremely grateful to each & every one who helped out!

Left - Pajamarama - Rebecca Feindel-Sherry rushed from her collection at the Elmsdale Sobey's to take part in the parade and collect more pjs for local kids!

Elmsdale Landscaping has provided the 'Toy Truck' for years,

while hardy volunteers walk the entire route collecting in carts!

Sangster's Automotive coordinates the Food Tuck,

and helps with the unloading at the Food Bank.

The first containers of collected food awaiting the volunteers.

Sorting proceeds rapidly and efficiently.

This year's volunteers included Milford 625 Air Cadets...

and members from the 1st Lantz Cubs, Scouts & Venturers

The Food Sorting may initially look a little chaotic, but years of experience has created a procedure that actually results in a fun & efficient distribution of the many toys, toiletry items & non-perishable food items provided by generous parade watchers.  This year we collected as much or perhaps a little more than usual; many thanks to all who donated or helped out!

December 12 - Guardian Pharmacy, our long-term partner in the Elmsdale Mall, had a well-filled collection box in a eye-catching 'Santa's Sleigh' display, right by the entrance and impossible to miss!  Thanks for a prime spot for Caring & Sharing!

December 18 - Adopt-a-Family - 7:30am

December 19 - packing - 8:00am

Left - in recent years two of our local politicians have made it a point to join us to 'pitch in on Packing Day' to help ensure locals in need will have a 'Happy Christmas'.

We'd also like to thank East Hants MLA Margaret Miller and our member of Parliament Scott Brison for their year-round promotion of Caring & Sharing; their support is greatly appreciated.

Packing the Christmas boxes for our local families is the culmination of the year for Caring & Sharing.  This is when our volunteers are most appreciated, as they bustle about, focused on their 'shopping lists' and the challenge of packing everything safely & efficiently under time pressure.
Outgoing President Bernice Donaldson (far right) joins this year's volunteers, including Hants/Kings MP Scott Brison. Follow the process as the carts pass through fresh produce, canned fruit & veggies, beverages, cereals, the baked goods department, and so on...

'The Produce Section' Hot drink mixes anyone?
Boxes are topped up with extras like Pajamas donated by 'Pajamarama'. Packed boxes of food are finally neatly packed to await pickup along with gifts by needy families.
