M A Y

May 3 - Volunteer Awards - Food Bank was proud to be able to nominate local grade six student Rebecca Feindel-Sherry for annual youth volunteer awards and was almost as thrilled as she was to see her win.  Way-to-go Rebecca!

May 7 - Ladies Night Car Care Clinic - McNeill's Shell hosted a wonderful workshop at their garage in Elmsdale, with former racing car driver Kelly Williams providing important information for proper car maintenance & repair. 

Attendees enjoyed refreshments, loot bags, free product & door prizes all at no cost, but a voluntary collection was taken for Food Bank; thanks to all who helped out!

May 12 to May 18 - 'Food for Fines' - the Elmsdale Branch of the Colchester & Region Library system will be accepting donations of non-perishable food items for Caring & Sharing Food Bank, applied against your library fines.  For EACH item, you will have your fines reduced by $2.00, up to a MAXIMUM credit of $16.00.  Note: This promo applies to fines only.

This donation is made in recognition of volunteer hours by the staff for a food drive held on May 28th.  CSAT thanks the commitment of the RBC staff in support of the food bank.

J U N E

June 1 - It's Sew Time! in the Elmsdale Business Park offered a Pfaff Serger class from 10am to 4:00pm;  a fun-filled, hands-on event which will take your creativity to a whole new level.  Spaces are limited so please book ahead.  There is no fee, but a donation to the local Foodbank would be appreciated. 

June - The Grade 5 students of Oldfield Consolidated School performed two shows of the musical CLOWNS for students, parents and guests.  Admission was food or cash donations for Caring & Sharing.  The students collected approximately 100 lbs. of food and $115 in cash.  Way to go!

October 19 - The Dutch Settlement Fire Department held their Annual Door to Door Food Drive On Oct. 19 / rain date Oct. 26.  Contact Samantha at 789-5126 for info; see photos below.

 

The Enfield RCMP,  with sponsorship from Scotia Bank, held their Annual Dale King Memorial Golf Tournment at the end of May 2013.  On October 21, the Caring & Sharing-Angel Tree Food Bank, along with 4 other groups, received a generous donation of $2500 each.  Thanks to all the organizers and volunteers who continue

to make this tournament an important fundraiser for the Food Bank!

Elmsdale Chiropractic Clinic Collection

Right - Many thanks as ever the management and staff at Elmsdale Chiropractic for their annual October Food Drive;

this helps so many local people!

 

 

Below - Dutch Settlement Volunteer Fire Department - Annual Door to Door Food Drive held October 19.  The volunteers collected 2,384 pounds of food plus $181 in cash. 

This is over a ton of food which was delivered in not one but three fire trucks.

October 24 - November 6 - many thanks to Sobey's Elmsdale for their Annual 'Fill the Food Bank' campaign, offering at the cash donations, as well as choices of $5, $10 & $15 bags pre-filled with Compliments brand items popular with families, making it easier for customers to give sensibly. 

November 12 - December 15 - the 'Mitten Tree' an  annual collection of handmade mittens, hats, scarves, socks & gloves is now under way at the Out Patient Lab on the ground floor of the Lloyd Matheson Centre in the Elmsdale Business Park.  Donations will be distributed among four local charities, including Caring & Sharing.  Any questions please contact 883-3500.

48 new winter coats collected this year; the Knights are sharing warm hugs for Christmas!

November 30 - 10:00am - Guardian Drugs - Angel Tree up

November 30 - 9:am - 3:00pm - Exit realty's annual Hey Hey Fill the Sleigh was a tremendous success with 20 grocery carts and cash donations exceeding $200.  Santa is very pleased that Exit made good use of his sleigh; many thanks & gratitude to all who help fill the sleigh!

East Coast Credit Union in Elmsdale held a food drive to benefit CSAT.

 

 

 

The 1st Enfield Brownies were busy making Candy Bags for the Caring & Sharing-Angel Tree Food Bank. 

They worked very hard to do up over 400 bags of candy, tagged and decorated with labels & ribbon to be given out to clients of the food bank for Christmas. 

These are done in memory of our long serving Mary Sullivan, our original Candy Lady. Congratulations on a job well done by Mary’s Candy Angels 2013!

Scott has been volunteering annual packing food

boxes for CSAT for several years.

MLA Margaret Miller and Bernice beside the Christmas Tree that was on loan from the Enfield Legion to give the packing area a festive touch.  Margaret had just finished packing ood boxes.

Rebecca Feindel-Sherry collected 200 pairs of PJs this year with her annual 'Pajamarama' campaign!

An amazing collection of food donations by the Elmsdale District School kids.

Portage Mutual Insurance were pleased they were able to collect all the items on

their list and staff then had a great time wrapping all the gifts!

December 10 - Volunteers from Lantz held a food drive and collected 13 cart loads of food filling  Santas' sleigh and a truck.

December 12 - the Elmsdale Volunteer Fire Department's door-to-door Food Drive helped fill the shelves with an impressive collection of food items.

Fire Dept. volunteer Paul Bolivar gets Virginia Baird of Sobeys to draw for the 'Just Keeps Giving Tree'.   Bev Duggan of Enfield was the lucky winner of the tree full of gift cards from local merchants

December 4 - 5 - Briarwood Bed & Breakfast's first ever Christmas Open House was a great success, showcasing this gracious home in Elmsdale at it's Holiday best, indoors & out.  Visitors enjoyed fresh baked cookies & mulled cider after a tour of beautifully decorated house.

An impressive collection of non-perishable food was augmented by over $240 in cash donations by generous visitors.

December 6 - 8 - Felicia Ferguson (Clara in the Nutcracker Dreams) presents Bernice Donaldson with a check for $1,547.   Bernice had the pleasure of seeing the show on Sunday and was amazed at the wonderful performance by the cast. 'Obviously this was a very successful presentation and very popular with the sale of 1,547 tickets. The amount of time put into this showed hard work and dedication from many people.  The Caring & Sharing thank all.'

December 2 to 6 - Elmsdale Chriopractic's Annual Toy Drive - The clinic added to the collection by donating new patient exams (normal $65 fee) in exchange for a new toy of a minimum $15 value.

December 7 - this year's Annual Corridor Santa Claus Parade collection saw great returns and an increase in stocks.  At left, staff from Elmsdale Landscaping's float unload their haul of new toys, while at right, cadets from the parade joined other volunteers afterwards at the Legion sorting food for our shelves.
