Funds for the shopping trip were raised from various sources, including troupe fees and various activities.

Scouts did the actual shopping themselves, helped by leaders and parents, deciding how best to spend their funds, consulting the weekly flyer and comparing labels.  A group photo and briefing session outside led to a store-wide dispersion as the kids scattered to seek out non-perishable items to fill their carts.   Sobey's allocated a dedicated check-out to keep the trip flowing smoothly and local food banks benefited while the scouts learned the value of a buck!

Tri-County Scouting assembling outside Sobeys to plan their Saturday afternoon shopping trip. The soup aisle saw some heavy traffic as scouts learned how far soup can take your family grocery budget. Canned vegetables were also popular items as inexpensive & nutritious choices for family meals.
Plenty of attention was also given to breakfast foods, plus DESSERTS for lunch boxes of course!

Saturday May 7 - Jake Thompson had his 6th birthday party and the gifts he asked for were donations to our food bank.

Jake managed to collect a full grocery cart. Jake and his family delivered his collecting to the food bank and had a tour and explanation by Mrs. J and Bernice Donaldson.  Owen and Jake helped sort and place a little food on the shelves; we find it absolutely amazing that such a small person has a heart so big!
